It's been a long time since I last wrote. Since I've pass my interview with YTN I'm taking this chance to gladly write about it. Hope this may brings good to those future students who will also be taking their sholarship's interview.
Once again , I'm attending the scholarships interview of Yayasan Tenaga Nasional which is under Tenaga Nasional Berhad. They will only be taking students who are interested in engineering , computer science , information technology , accounting , business administration & finance. I am an accounting student.
Our selection was devided into two session . The first one is an EDUCAMP. The educamp was held for a week which was freakingly awesome and hard. =.=" In the educamp , there are many challenging activities which comes to test your IQ , moralities , diciplines , maturity , communication skills , dressing manner and maybe more.
Be reminded to always be on time , wear formal clothes and be good. :p
I would like to give 3 examples of activities. The first example is the game called " The battleship " . If you ever heard of it , good. I've never heard of it when the game was held since it also sounded like a boy game . Thanks God in my group , there's these chinese boy cause he already now how to play it. This one, test your leadership and coorperation with the others. The game was a battleship war which your group will fight with another group. It doesn't matter if you win or lose cause the thing is , these game is all about luck. :P What matter the best is you've tried the best to win. :3
Next example of activity is the " Explorace Night " . These one was the most challenging one for me because it went on 1 am until 5 am. Before that game was even started, they already gave us this freaking tired activities and we thought we could already have a rest at 1 am but what happen was ONE MORE SURPRISE ACTIVITY. This game provide us 15 station to complete. In a new group , we were sent to finish the mission which tested our IQ , mentally and physically. =.=" I can't imagine how could I survived that night. After finishing the explorace , we have to go for our next activity on 7am. NO SLEEP.
Last example is the " Playing Role " . In your new group , you guys will be given a situation which will have some roles to be played. For us, the situation was a land colapse in an area-which I forgot where already. Thousands of life was sacrificed so who should be blame ? I played as an geography expert where I and the rest of the group manage to blame a role which have I forgot , pegawai perumahan or something. That is how we play role , you pretend to know the best about it , protect your role from being blame and try the best to blame the other role. Really , just be brave and fight. :P
After the educamp has finished , we have to wait about three days for the result of who made it to the second part of the selection which is an individual interview. So , after I waited and waited , I'm gladly qualified for the individual interview.
So , I did practice a lot and prayed a lot and nervous much. LOL. The interview's day came and everything comes to my mind. When I reach the office everyone was busy looking for information and I was like freakingly suprised that they say we should remember all the administration officer name , which they did ask. =.=" I also try my best to read all of that but it didn't makeout for a last minute preparation. They have files and everything to practice and all that I have is only my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 for an information. Is that enough ? I think no.
Before the interview even started , we have to sit and hear a talk about this scholarship. What I can remember is if you past the interview , you will have to continue your study which is at UNITEN KAJANG or UNITEN MUADZAM SHAH. After graduated , you will have to work with TNB for about 7 years of contract with a first month basic of RM4,000 and so on of benefits. :P If you're interested to know more of the benefits just leave your comments below.
Then , we waited for our turn. So , here is it. I did my rosary prayer with my friend from Sarawak. The moment which everything was about to be decided . The last fight of me. Every strength and every last breath were put unto these. LOL jk. So , before I enter the room , I fix my clothes once more a knee level skirt and a formal shirt tuck in , my hair was pony-tail tied and with a litle bit of make up with all the certificate's and resume. I think I'm ready.
When I came in , I was told to be seated about 1 meter of the interviewers desk. I think they wanna look the way I seat. Remember , my tips don't cross your legs diva. :) Then they ask these questions that I think quite embarassing that some of it I didn't know the answer but just be confident and say " I'm sorry sir , I didn't quite made a research about it . " Then talk if you only know a litle about it , just give your best. If you absolutely know zero then say you will do more research.
I should know the answer but I can't tell. You know how nervous but what good about me having an interview is maybe because I 'look' confident , comfortable , relax and I remember the interviewer said I'm the first one that day he found to be honest with my answer. So , please be honest , don't lie. They maybe testing you with some of anwers they have already know. Btw , the interview was 100% English.
Example of questions :
1. Where do you come from ? -- I came from Sabah , a small village named kg. Bungug in a town called Papar. I grew up there since I was born , the village was filled with paddy field and most of my family is a villager so since that I've determined to change my family's prospect about the importance of knowledge, how can that lead to victory. By now , I'm trying my best to success and that is why I was very determined to fly from Sabah to be here today. ( It actually not 100% of how my answer is cause it was already 3 months past but that is how my answer should be ).
2. Why do you pick accountant as a carier ? -- I enjoyed accounting very much. Ever since I first studied them even from my form 4 level, with all the project given and I'm all excited. Accounting is also a job carrier which leads to connect in the business which I would like to be one of it; but I still don't want to be a business woman cause I enjoyed accounting more. Balancing the sheets and making this plan for the company. etc.etc.long answer.
3. Why do you want to enter UNITEN ? You know right , if you're taking these accounting course , you will be send to campus in Muadzam Shah , which is not in the middle of the city like campus Bangi ? How if we offered you computer science course ? -- **laugh a bit. It's okay sir even if campus muadzam shah is in the middle of village cause I already well noted. I didn't mind that cause all that I've known is that UNITEN was said to be listed one of the top Non-Goverment university. Also, since my home is also in a village, I will not feel like homesick or whatsoever. **gigle. Also , if I were given the course of computer science, I would give a 'maybe' cause I really do love these accounting thingy so I might have to reconsider. If there are better offer than YTN I might not take your offer if you are giving me computer science instead, even if there's a bigger possibilities that I will take your offer.
4. What did you know about TNB ? -- I'm sorry sir I didn't quite make a research about it but what I know that TNB is a big utility that provides electricity to the whole peninsular Malaysia and Sabah through SESB . What do I know well , is the problems existed like how my village having a blackout problem about once a week but still it have been better since before. Thanks for the effort. :P (sangat merepek right , I've gone through the best I can , but that one is my moment of shame. If you guys were about to have the same problem , do your best to answer . )
More of the questions but I think thats enough of examples. :P
After waited for about a month then they called me and say " Sukacitanya kami ingin menawarkan saudari biasiswa YTN , jurusan perakaunan bertempat di UNITEN kampus Muadzam Shah " . I was likeeeeee. OOMMAAAAIIGGAAAADD.
Btw , thanks again for the offer YTN , I will do my best , even 4flat. :P
